ACHIEVING MY GOALS

Twenty-first century is the century of distraction. Most of us have smartphones that bombard us with loads of adverts to take our minds off what we ought to be focusing on. I must admit it is easier to watch an ad than to study a topic even for five minutes or to lift a 10kg dumbbell. Effort, self-improvement and goal achievement is hard. So, I am writing this for myself and all who can relate.

The key here, in this century, is removal and overcoming distractions which are largely mental. It is literally a battle of the mind for one’s focus. Can you read an article for 5 minutes or because of TikTok, you expect everything to be said in thirty seconds or that information will not read or listened to?

For me, these are my keys to achieving my goals:

  1. Set a goal
  2. Draw a plan
  3. Follow the steps (fulfill the condition for your achievement)
  4. Realize the dream come into life.

I am a big believer in the Grace of God. I have no intention to hide my faith to please any audience. I am not even writing for an audience.

The steps above seem easy but very difficult to realize. And this is because of distraction by the phone. I hope I am able to overcome my phone addiction and distraction by the end of this mini essay.

How can I overcome my addiction?

  1. Admit that I have a phone problem and resolve to solve it from today
  2. Tell myself repeatedly ‘’It is not time to check messages or scroll through twitter, Instagram or snapchat’’
  3. Schedule a time for checking distractions
  4. Focus on work that will improve my knowledge, health, love life and wealth.

I know it will be hard. I know it will break me but I am committed to trying this from today, I will be here to give feedback in a month’s time. I am optimistic. This will be my productive month even surpassing August 2018. You can try it too.
